What?
The Offcuts Drawer is a podcast where successful writers share the contents of their bottom drawer – the bits of writing they never finished, had rejected or still keep hold of for nostalgia. I choose the best bits, get actors to perform them. and the writer and I listen back to and discuss them. Why didn’t they work? What were they trying to achieve? What did the piece actually lead to?
The podcast was awarded Honoree in the international Webby Awards 2021 for the BEST ARTS & CULTURE PODCAST (Oprah’s Super Soul podcast won) and was invited to feature in the British Museum’s Sound Archive as part of the nation’s audio and cultural heritage.
And on June 1st 2025 Miranda Sawyer in The Observer called it “thoroughly enjoyable… a lovely concept, beautifully realised”
